I also recorded the audio on my Lafayette cassette recorder.

And do you remember the "space tunnel" I built in the long closet in the playroom? Lined with pictures from NASA? And oh yeah, I recall ordering about
20 16mm films from NASA (for free) sent to the Heathcote elementary school library and then
watching them in the auditorium. The memories are fuzzy, but they are there. RFK, the Mets, and the moon landing. (He also had an obsession with bad westerns like The Big Valley and The Virginian, but whatever.)

"How many happy shared moments do we have these days?"

You nailed it.Sal Nunziatohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09221629293545204260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8286055590040900418.post-91693969659994207632012-08-26T20:46:01.389-04:002012-08-26T20:46:01.389-04:00Great piece. Sat next to him at a dinner on one occasion and had a long free-ranging conversation about everything except space and the moon (he didn't like to talk about it, and it was sort of an unwritten social rule in Cincinnati to steer clear of the topic). What a great man; modest, unassuming - just as portrayed by many recent tributes. A national treasure for sure.Jeff Matthewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10733473221652080431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8286055590040900418.post-31786130319463781102012-08-26T12:27:20.180-04:002012-08-26T12:27:20.180-04:00Great post, David.
